November is Wellbeing: thirty activities to highlight the value of municipal social services

The month of November in Peñíscola has been chosen as the setting for an interesting programme under the label ‘November is Social Welfare 2025’, promoted by the Department of Social Welfare, with the aim of raising awareness of the work carried out by the municipal Social Services department.

Why November?

The month coincides with several international events related to rights, well-being and inclusion, such as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November) and the International Day for Tolerance, providing an opportunity to organise awareness-raising, training and coexistence activities.

Why is it relevant?

  1. Visibility of Social Services: It highlights the daily work of the Social Welfare department, which is usually not very visible, and presents it as a source of resources, training and support.
  2. Prevention, training and empowerment: Talks and workshops not only address symptoms (e.g. ‘online scams’ or ‘sexuality in cancer patients’), but also personal skills (digital literacy, financial literacy, first aid).
  3. Inclusion of different audiences: From the elderly (active ageing workshops) to young people (recreational or educational activities), including carers and people in vulnerable situations.
  4. Community social cohesion: Activities such as city tours and T-shirt making involve collective participation, fostering bonds and a sense of community.

What you can find in the programme

There are approximately thirty activities—workshops, talks, courses, playrooms, group dynamics—aimed at different audiences: young people, families, seniors, carers, and the general population.
